I graduated from Big Pasture High School in Randlett, OK. It was a very small town, and everyone was like family.
I graduated college from Cameron University in 1998 with my teachiing degree, and I later obtained my masters in BrainSMART (How people learn with the brain in mind).
I have an educational bachelor’s degree, as well as an educational master’s degree, as mentioned above.
I have obtained multiple hours of professional develpment in Language Arts, Science, Dyslexia, Autism, working with the struggling learner, and brain-based learning during my 20+ years of teaching.

I am so excited to return to Tishomingo Public Schools! I am teaching Freshmen English I. and Creative Writing at Tishomingo High School this year. This will be my third year in the district after previously teaching at the elementary school. This will be my 21st year of teaching, and I still love being in the classroom. I have now taught elementray, intermediate/middle school, and currently highschool. I feel so blessed to be teaching a subject about which I am so passionate. I hope that every student leaves my room confident in his/her ability to write!
I have taught in two previous Texas schools and have been teaching in Oklahoma now for the past eight years. I have always loved being in education, and I knew from my early teenage years that I wanted to work with kids. I cannot think of a more important job on the planet. I earnestly believe that an effective teacher is priceless in a child’s life.
I have been happily married to my husband Bobby for 25 years and counting!
We have two boys that absolutely love this area of Oklahoma. My oldest, Brecken Waitman, just graduated college, and my youngest, Brennan Waitman, is attending college at Murray State College.
We have two dogs, Boomer and Mazi, that are loving life in the country.
I love to sing, play basketball, and write poetry. I also love to spend time with my family at the lake. I enjoy watching just about any sport! Go Indians!
